Fresh Berries For You

[#] posted at 2:18 pm (GMT +1200)

Impressively, this site is starting to near 1000 hits which is so cool I'm gonna do a repeat of what I did last time my site neared 1000 hits, offer a sweet prize to whoever is the 1000th visitor or nearest to after the fact. You can take screen caps by pressing alt + print screen which will copy an image to your clipboard. Save it, send it to me and you could also win one of these...

And second prize is you all have to suffer through this.

Where is your god now?

Dead Chris Day

[#] posted at 3:36 pm (GMT +1200)

Three nights of drinking is both awesome and terrible. My liver must hate me right now.

Spit-takes has so far gotten a good response from people, which is great and encouraging to carry on with the next project. Still trying to find the best compression for it as a HD file and for vimeo, but that's technical mumbo jumbo nobody cares about.

News and stuff wise, its been a quite few days so I don't really have anything else to post about. Its gonna be a fairly low key week it seems and no planned robot fights to speak of, though I've been thinking of starting themed weeks just for the hell of it. Mostly, I just want to print and wear a whole series of t-shirts that say 'Fuck (whatever is pissing me off at the time)' and have a different shirt every day for a whole week. That'd be sweet.

Anyway, here's a golden oldie I always like watching, the Who's on First sketch rendered with typography. Next post will hopefully have something more interesting. Or disturbing. Whichever comes first. Or last. I need beer.

Spit-Takes: A Mouthful of Comedy

[#] posted at 5:34 am (GMT +1200)

Been meaning to post in the last few days that I've been working on this bastard for many late nights tapping keys like a drone, banging my head through the online rendering and trying to get a proper decent quality online.

Well its now done and after so long working at it, I have no idea if its any good and without even testing it before release, I give you the long overdue... Spit-Takes: A Mouthful of Comedy. Be gentle internet.

Strangety of the Day

[#] posted at 11:14 pm (GMT +1200)

At work tonight my boss was praising my recent work efforts. Wasn't really paying as much attention until I heard it said "you worked really hard like a little nigger".

No other workmate heard it, nor were they in earshot, but goddamnit if I'm not pretty certain much, shit you not, 99% certain that is what was said and I was fairly dumbstruck to continue listening or react or anything.

Mental.

Catch Up Post

[#] posted at 2:06 am (GMT +1200)

Well its been one long week of all sorts of crazies. Completed the short film "Spit-Takes" and while I'm happy with the final result, there's some effects thats taking its time being rendered before I'll put it online for all to see.

Its been submitted to be screened along with some other local shorts for a touring festival in order to showcase the Waikato's budding filmmaking community... or something along those lines. I even managed to squeeze in my good friend Sash's Dark Priest short that he made several years ago and I still consider it one of, if not the best student/low budget short to have come out of the Waikato in recent years and its always needed a wider audience and this certainly is one of the platforms for it. I should be an agent. Ari Gold would be proud.

Other things that have happened this week include getting my car tested for a Warrant of Fitness and passing with absolutely no faults, not even minor ones to keep an eye out for. Impossible? Probably, I must have left a 20 note or something in the seat, that's never happened to me before.

I also broke another expensive pair of headphones, and buying a replacement, thats probably my third $100 pair this year. Spending money is just awesome. I also completed building shelves for my DVDs so now they don't just lie around in excess across the floors and now just need to track down where the hell all my borrowed ones are. As there are just so many missing its mental.

Also tried some painting this weekend and failed so instead took up drinking as a past time. That was excellent, but suffered one hellish hangover thats been haunting me all day today. Thats what I get for mixing my many drinks.

The plan for this week is to start putting together the next short film exclusive for the net, finish writing of script thats needed finishing for many many many months now and probably get around to invoicing and getting paid.

There's an interview with Charlie Kaufman here in mp3 format and it runs for over two hours. He talks about all sorts of things an its great as you'd expect it to be.

The trailer for his upcoming film Synecdoche...

An interview with the creator of No Heroics which I caught the first episode of and now think is great. Check it out if you can, I mean there's a guy called Thunder Monkey and he summons monkeys. I know I've mentioned that before but... monkeys!

And finally, here's Well Ferrell answering some questions from the internet. Hilarious.

Just finished a late night edit of short film for festival. Rough cut is done and audio needs some reworking. Music needs to be put in and graphics need to be tweaked. So... Almost... Finished. But sleep first.

Whats been going on...

[#] posted at 12:58 pm (GMT +1200)

So I didn't end up doing the music video this weekend and moreso, the deadline for the short film to be made if I didn't end up doing the music video got pushed forward so much, that it wouldn't have been finished in time. Not on the scale and scope that I'm planning to do it on. Which is good, cause it gives me time to make the scale and scope just a little bigger.

So... instead of making one whole film, I've nearly completed two half finished films that, for the last year, have been lying around in various states of 'not finished'. It quite bewildering that I've left them lying around like this for as long as they have and I've got at least a couple of other things filmed that just need editing and a little post work done as well, but for now I'll concentrate on these two shorts. Which will hopefully be done in time for this deadline, let alone this year.

Upcoming Film Stuff

[#] posted at 4:13 pm (GMT +1200)

So I might be shooting a music video this weekend. I'm not quite sure. The date was pencilled in a while ago but so far not much has been heard on it.

But elsewise, I've taken a offer to contribute a short film to a touring film festival that's intended to showcase the Waikato or Hamilton region or something. So, to make something specifically for the show, I'm going to spend the next few days, and moreso the weekend (if I'm not filming a music video instead) to make a film about nothing. Not to say that Hamilton is nothing (though pretty close according to some), but the intention is to not plan anything, not script anything and just use whatever resources I'll have available at the time. That also include equipment, actors, props, locations and food. And thats not to say nothing means I don't have an idea in my head what exactly it's about or how to do it, but that I have a concept of a story and of the format, but I want to keep the process very experiment and very spontaneous.

And hey, if it all fucks up and collapses on itself, I'll just use an old short film or something instead.

The Mercury Prize award is on tonight, well, in the UK at least. I wonder if i can be viewable online. But either way, lots of good acts should be on and quite a few albums nominated I'm pretty keen to win. But probably want it for Radiohead cause I'm a biased ammoral fan like that. Though these guys called Portico Quartet are pretty cool too...

From the Outer Regions...

[#] posted at 4:55 am (GMT +1200)

Dear fucking god I am tired. Have been meaning all week to post something about what I've been doing, but simply haven't had the time or energy to do so. At best it's been either nothing or a video filled with fucking furries, but hey, I'm still here for you.

So yeah, for the past week its been work, filming, the odd Bill Bailey (which was awesome) and more work. Hopefully it'll all quiet down soon for me to focus on things I had meant to focus on last week before things got hectic and amongst which, I'll get to finish building what'll be one sweet facebook profile picture, cause I haven't had a new one for months now. It's very important to me like that.

...Once again I get the time to sit down and blog about stuff and nothing comes to mind. All week I've been constructing in my head bits and pieces that will be this blog post all about this, that and the other group of stuff and thoughts and thinking on blah, blah, blahs... but right now I'm sitting in front of the computer and all that's coming out of my head is: 'blah, blah, blah... wasn't this something important you wanted to post about? Hey, how about you just write about how you can't write about anything. Stretch out a whole goddamn paragraph about your retarded so called writers block that is really retarded brain thinking. You could totally keep this train of thought going and it'd be so fucking meta, Shakespeare would spit in his coffee'. Whatever... I'm Batman.
